REIKI EXPLAINED

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a method of natural healing based on the applicationreiki symbol of Universal Life Force Energy.  The name Reiki literally means Universal Life Force Energy.

Although a very ancient form of healing, Reiki was rediscovered almost 200 years ago by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan where it is still widely used. Reiki is now becoming very popular in the West with people who are looking for natural alternatives to today's drug led philosophy of modern medicine.

When Was Reiki First used

There is some speculation about the origination of Reiki but it is believed it began in Tibet thousands of years ago.

In the mid to late 1800's in Japan, Dr Mikao Usui rediscovered this ancient healing system and started a Reiki organisation and is the founder of the Usui System of Reiki.

Reiki was introduced to the Western world in the 1930's. Since then, its use has spread dramatically worldwide.

The understanding that energy flows through all living things and is connected directly to the quality of health has been part of the wisdom of many cultures since ancient times. The existence of this "life force energy" has been verified by recent scientific experiments, and medical doctors are considering the role it plays in the functioning of the immune system and the healing process.

What Is Reiki

reikiEastern medicine recognises, and works with, this energy or 'life-force' helping to stimulate the body in it's own natural healing process, which increases the energy flow throughout the whole body.

How Is Reiki Used

Reiki is a non-invasive therapy. It is performed with the client fully clothed and can induce a state of deep relaxation.

A Reiki practitioner is a channel in which the energy is drawn through.

The use of Reiki energy is usually transferred with the practitioner's hands resting gently on the body or non-contact where appropriate, such as tender wounds or sensitive areas.

A Reiki treatment is non-diagnostic, non-interventionist, non-manipulative and no pressure is applied. Clothes are not removed as the energy will pass easily through them.

What Are Some Of The Benefits Of Reiki

Below are just some of the benefits that have been achieved through the use of Reiki:

  • Reiki can aid in the healing of both mental and physical illness
  • Reiki can relieve stress and increase relaxation
  • Reiki works on both the symptoms and their deeper causes
  • It works well alongside other forms of complimentary medicine

As well as being used to maintain good health, Reiki can also be helpful for people who have had surgery or who are on a course of drugs that have severe side effects. Reiki helps to cleanse the body of toxins and encourages the flow of natural energy. This can result in quicker recovery and a reduction in unpleasant side effects.
